Every story of a wrongful conviction and exoneration, from a storytelling point of view, is incredible. They’re great stories. They’re tragic. They’re sad. If we’re lucky there’s a happy ending; the guy gets out of prison.  They’re all fantastic stories. But the one in Noxubee County, Mississippi, has got to be one of the best.“

In conjunction with the Media and Documentary Projects at the University of Mississippi, our Project co-produced the film, Mississippi Innocence in 2011. The award-winning documentary is about the wrongful convictions of two Noxubee County, Mississippi men, Levon Brooks and Kennedy Brewer, who combined spent over thirty years behind bars for crimes they didn’t commit.

In 2011, the Mississippi Innocence Project received the award of a $10,000 grant from The Fledgling Fund (http://www.thefledglingfund.org/). Proceeds from the grant were used to develop curricula that compliment the film.
